We Won’t Always Change The World. But What If We Could Make It Better For One Person?

“Great opportunities to help others seldom come…but small ones surround us every day.” Author Sally Koch nailed it.

At Sparkt we take great pride in attacking the big issues. We gave away ten thousand face masks. Ten thousand meals.

But little things are just as important.

Ask my Facebook Friend Nan. Nan sent me this message:

“Marty. I have a problem with getting by these days. I have a cable payment due (2 mos.) because I backed up paying for some new medicines they gave me for some of the heart issues and got behind and nobody to lean on.”

That’s the crux of it, right? So many people with nobody to lean on.

Nan took comfort in watching TV, until she couldn’t pay her cable bill.

It’s not just a cable bill. For Nan… she has major back problems… chronic pain… open heart surgery. And an abusive spouse. She had to leave her home to escape the beatings.

Nan finished her note by saying “Marty. I tried to get a Payday Loan but they would’ve wanted twice the amount to pay it back. I’m lost and just want to have my TV to watch while I’m still protecting myself by staying home.”

We paid her cable bill. It was a little less than $200 dollars. We didn’t change the world. We didn’t save a life. But we helped a woman to keep it together… fighting off the bill collectors… allowing her to pay for her medicine… and having some peace at the end of the day.

Here at Sparkt we’re committed to making a difference. I’m hoping you’re doing the same.
