To call this a sweet moment would be a bit of a cliche, but it’s just so true. One truck loaded with hundreds of chocolate eggs rolled up at the Boys & Girls Club location in Carnegie, PA this afternoon. The donation from Sarris Candies came as a result of a conversation I had with my friend Billy Sarris. He’s already done so much, so he easily could have said no… but that’s not how this played out.
I mean, wow! Enough candy for 700 kids and their families just in time for Easter. That’s not the beginning or the end of the Sarris family’s generosity. In the last week, they’ve sent chocolate to UPMC Children’s Hospital, Allegheny General Hospital, and now the Boys & Girls Club. Altogether, that’s more than $150,000 worth of candy.

To make things even sweeter for the Boys & Girls Club, other companies are stepping up to help the organization’s families. All of that chocolate is being delivered along with special kits they’re putting together thanks to Lowe’s home improvement stores.
The candy was included in a bucket of supplies donated by Lowe’s for Boys & Girls Club families.
Lowe’s didn’t just donate their signature blue buckets, they also provided the cleaning supplies that include things like paper towels, disinfectant, and hard-to-find hand sanitizer. District Manager Ken Haines told me why his company got involved.
Volunteers will start delivering the buckets later this week. There’s even a rumor that the Easter bunny will be along for the ride!
