Let’s Take Helping In A New Direction

A call for help comes in from Virginia who lives in a house on a sharp bend in a rural town.

“13 times my house has been hit by cars and trucks. Speeders. Drunk drivers. They all run into my house. They destroy my yard. No one will help me. Can you please help me?”

An email comes in from Casey about the broken water pipe on grandma’s sidewalk:

“…the water company keep trying to shut her water off because she can not afford 6,500 dollars to repair it. i pray someone can help her.”

Another email pleads for help for a hard working single mother with three children. She was involved in a car accident and lost her job. Her friend pleads.

“She has three kids..no income…no job. I don’t know what to do. Everyone gives me the runaround. It makes me angry and sad. This girl has worked her whole life. She can’t get help from anywhere.”

I could continue for thirty pages. I have hundreds of them, letters, e-mails, voicemail messages. It’s simple: PEOPLE NEED HELP!

Here at Sparkt we want to make a difference. We want to help them all. Truth is. Often times we can’t get to everyone. The folks who have fallen through the cracks keep falling.

I hate it. I absolutely hate it.

Here’s my promise. We’re working on a better way.

We want to connect folks who want to help with folks who need help. We’re working on a network of people who “do good”. We must do better. We will do better. I promise.

Truth is, I’m gonna need your help. I’m gonna ask a bunch of you to pitch in. You’ll be hearing from me soon.

Dr Seuss wrote: “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”

It will get better. If we do it together. Stay tuned.
