Dog Rescue Lets Pups Pick Their Own Christmas Gifts

A dog rescue and rehoming charity in Ireland had the cutest Christmas celebration ever last week when they distributed hundreds of donations to their pups in residence.

‘Dogs Trust’ is the largest animal welfare agency in Ireland and their focus is on rescuing dogs, rehabilitating them and finding each one a loving home. Over 2,000 animals were rehomed by the agency in 2018 and they’ve neutered 119,844 dogs since 2006. Their motto is, “We never destroy a healthy dog.”

The donations for the organization’s Christmas “giveaway” included dog bones, balls and enough squeaky toys to fill an airplane hangar. The donations were provided by staff members and supporters of the organization who love to give the dogs something special at the end of the year.

To make the giveaway more interesting this year, the staff at Dogs Trust lined up all of the toys on the floor of the Rehoming Center and let each dog pick out their own Christmas gift, one by one.

After the dogs made their selections, the staff posted a video to social media, and it’s just as adorable and chaotic as you can imagine.

The post reads: As you will see, deciding on which toy was a big decision for some dogs and some delighted in the squeakiest toy they could find – you’ll need sound on to appreciate their joy in full effect.

The video shows dogs of a variety of ages and breeds excitedly running around and trying out the toys before trotting off with their new prizes gripped firmly in their mouths.

People all over the world commented on the post, with some showing interest in adopting several of the pooches in the video.

Others picked up on the fact that not only were the dogs cute, they were well-behaved.

“And they only took 1 toy each,” one person wrote. “Dogs are the best people!”

One thing’s for sure, all of the dogs are very good boys and girls and most deserving of their special Christmas treat.
