When the weather outside is frightful, a nice, warm jacket can be delightful.
Unfortunately, not everyone has the means to afford a jacket. For residents of Farmingdale, NY, however, that’s no longer an issue, thanks to Retro Fitness.
“We have a Salvation Army drop box in our gym,” said an anonymous representative of Retro Fitness in Farmingdale. “I thought it would be nice to display some of the coats for anyone who needed one and also give an opportunity for people to donate coats if they want to help out. Anyone is welcome to take whatever they need.”
The inspiration for this seems to have come from a restaurant in Dallas, TX, where atypical freezing temperatures inspired the owner to leave out coats for the homeless. Retro Fitness shared that story on their Facebook page and encouraged people to do the same outside their gym.
“I cant think of a better way to celebrate the cold than to make it bearable for everyone.” – Retro Fitness, Farmingdale
Many of us have old or unused coats, sweaters, or other clothes that do nothing but take up closet space. If you are trying to de-clutter for the new year, consider following this example and giving someone the gift of warmth this winter.
