Mail carriers are working overtime this time of year to make sure gifts are delivered on time and in good condition.
One postal worker recently went above and beyond his duties when his mail truck caught fire in Osawatomie, Kansas. The unidentified employee said he was driving along his route when he smelled and saw smoke coming from the front of his truck. He pulled over to the side of the road, and when he saw flames leaping from the engine, he knew he had to act quickly.
The driver was able to get all of the packages out of the back of the truck before firefighters arrived. The packages were mostly Amazon deliveries and other boxes wrapped with festive paper. Luckily, no one was hurt in the fire.
After they put out the flames, the Osawatomie Fire Department shared photos of the burned-out truck to Facebook.
Your Prime delivery may have just lost its Prime, they joked. The good news is, the driver saved Christmas!
People commented on the post, praising the driver for his quick action.
Hope Amazon appreciates and thanks this good man too! Great job, mr mailman, one person wrote.
While we think its awesome that the postal driver was able to save the packages from getting burned in the fire, its important to remember the people who are working extra hard this time of year to make sure your gifts arrive on time and in one piece.
Why not leave your mail carrier a small token to show your appreciation for their hard work? We love this Sparkt story, where a woman left a box of snacks and drinks for delivery drivers on her front porch. Why not do something similar for drivers in your community? A little bit of kindness goes a long way.
Lets #StartSomethingGood together.
